First Blog - Gump 2

Well here it is, my first blog, and im allowed to write about anything, something that has caught my attention apparently..

I was reading recently about the making of a Forest Gump sequel which made me curious to how the hell they would make a sequel to that move, it would be like making a sequel to Titanic or something similar.

Apparently six years ago writer Eric Roth was hired to pen a sequel screenplay to his 1994 Oscar-winning hit "Forrest Gump". The eventual script, which was based on Winston Groom's sequel novel "Gump & Co.", was completed but never made and has been sitting in the vaults ever since.
Taking place several years after the events of the first film, it finds Forrest's shrimping business failed and Jenny dead - leaving Forrest a single unemployed father. Gump stumbles through important historical events once again, this time through incidents in the 1980s and 90s including a meeting with actor Tom Hanks.

Now, Cinema blend reports that according to one of their sources the script has been pulled out of cold storage for another look by Gump producers Steve Tisch and Wendy Finerman.

Seems that the project never got off the ground five years ago due to a legal dispute between Paramount and Groom over his royalties from the film adaptation - and so refused to sell them the rights to "Gump & Co.". Now it would appear they have worked things out.

Finerman and Tisch are apparently talking to Tom Hanks and Gary Sinise about returning but things are far from set.

I'd be real dissapointed. Forrest Gump should be left alone... It's one of those movies that doesn't need a sequel. Though it would definately be a laugh seeing Forrest encounter Tom Hanks!!
